Private sector and climate change in the South Caucasus region

Potentials and challenges

What are the needs of the private sector in South-Caucasus countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia) regarding adaptation to climate change? Global21 carries out a study identifying opportunities for innovation through adaptation in selected sectors and value chains (in particular tourism and agroindustry).

The study includes:

  • Analysing needs of private sector (in particular tourism and agroindustry sectors) regarding adaptation to climate change, focussing in particular on vocational qualification measures
  • Identifying opportunities for innovation through adaptation in selected sectors and value chains
  • Analysing business development framework conditions regarding mainstreaming of climate risks and risk management

The mission based on interviews, IPCC 5th assessment report, analysis of national communications to UNFCCC and national climate change strategies.
